Synchronization services, like Google Drive or Dropbox, are the best solution for sharing files over the Internet or simply making them available on any computer. If you are a Google Drive user, you can do more than organizing files, if you install gExplore. The application gives you access to additional features, which enable you to audit the size of each file, within a certain folder, view the established permissions, encrypt your files and more.

gExplore's trial version has a few restrictions, which can be removed if you buy a license. The setup file is roughly half a MB and the application's files can be installed almost instantly. It is compatible with different Windows versions, from Windows XP to Windows 8 and its system requirements are modest.

When you launch gExplore, you must provide your Gmail login credentials. Once you are logged in, the software will display an explorer-like interface, on which you can manage your Google Drive files and upload new ones. You may create new folders, rename or delete existing ones, in a tree structure, located on the left side of the window. It is also possible to share a folder with another user or export a folder's contents, in various formats.

You can upload individual files or entire folders, by using the same type of options. Besides selecting a source and a destination, you may also choose to encrypt your files. Alternatively, you can upload your files right away, if you drag and drop them on the interface. Any changes you make will affect your local Google Drive folder, as well as your uploaded data. The software's top menus contain a few options, which can be used to audit the size of each file from a specific folder, to view your established permissions for each file and to decrypt files.

Pros

You can manage your Google Drive data and upload new files, without too much effort. The software allows you to encrypt files, audit their sizes and permissions. The user interface is easy to understand and it provides various features, which are not available on Google Drive.

Cons

The application's trail version lists a maximum of 20 files. With gExplore, you can extend the functionality of Google Docs and make it more flexible and comfortable.
